Recently, at the Heipi Xiaozhu Farm in the Development Zone of Danyang City, several agricultural drones, under the control of flight defense players, skimmed along the green rice fields at low altitudes for precise pesticide application operations. On the same day, the second Agricultural Machinery Industry Vocational Skills Competition was held in Danyang City. Through layers of competition in the preliminary rounds, 18 “flying hands” advanced to the final.
The competition is divided into two stages: theoretical and practical. The contestants carefully answer the questions in the theoretical assessment, and the practical competition is also tense and orderly. The practical competition is divided into two modules: agricultural drone flight defense and maintenance.
With the beginning of the agricultural drone defense assessment, the “pilots” skillfully controlled the drone and accurately completed multiple work processes such as takeoff deployment, route flight, precise spraying, and safe landing. The referee will score the contestants on site based on their pesticide ratio, preparation before homework, plant protection homework, post homework organization, and civilized homework. The competition for plant protection drone maintenance projects is also fierce. The referee scores the contestants based on their pre competition preparation, troubleshooting, and usage time. Finally, the total score of the contestants is calculated based on the scores of the theoretical exam and practical assessment modules. The first place was awarded the “Danyang May Day Labor Medal”, the top five were awarded the “Danyang May Day Technical Model”, and the 6th to 15th places were awarded the “Danyang Agricultural Technical Expert”. After fierce competition, Zhang Xinjun from Jinfang Family Farm in Yanling Town finally won the first place.
In recent years, with the promotion of comprehensive mechanization of agriculture in Danyang, the functions of drones have become more diverse from agricultural mechanization to agricultural intelligence. They have developed from a single plant protection system to a new type of intelligent agricultural machinery equipment that integrates fertilization, feeding, sowing, and other functions. Agricultural drones have become one of the “protagonists” in the process of modern agricultural technology. At present, there are 340 agricultural drones in Danyang City alone, with an annual flight defense area of over 300000 acres. Compared to traditional manual spraying methods, agricultural drone operation not only improves the control effect of crops, but also greatly improves agricultural production efficiency, making outstanding contributions to cost saving and efficiency increasing for farmers, and promoting green and increased agricultural production.
Chen Xinhui, the head of Danyang Agricultural Machinery Promotion Station, stated that through this year’s agricultural machinery industry vocational skills competition, it has also provided a platform for players to exchange and learn, improving their professional technical level and operational skills. Danyang will accelerate the cultivation and selection of a group of high-quality skilled talents that meet the needs of modern agricultural development, and contribute to the high-quality development of agriculture.
