A large army of locusts recently invaded India, and the local government is also actively taking various measures to try to repel the locusts to protect people’s crops. According to foreign media reports recently, the Indian government has arranged for a helicopter and dozens of drones to be used for spraying insecticide, while the latter will be used to track the movements of the locust army to help deploy as soon as possible to prevent its spread to other areas.
According to Indian media reports, at present, the locust army has gradually moved towards the inland areas of India, and relevant traces can be found in many local suburbs and urban areas. In order to prevent locust infestation, the Indian government recently announced that it will deploy a helicopter and dozens of drones. The former will be sprayed with insecticide from the helicopter spray system newly ordered from the UK, while the latter will be mainly used to track the whereabouts of the locust army and spray insecticide simultaneously in an attempt to repel locusts.
The Ministry of Civil Aviation of India has also revised the authorities’ regulations regarding the seriousness of the situation, and from now on, state government officials will be allowed to use drones at night to perform all work related to pest control. The Indian government has also stated that in order to eliminate the locust army, it has specifically intended to purchase 15 additional helicopter spraying systems from the UK, which can be reached and put into service within two weeks at the earliest, and will allocate additional funds to purchase 45 additional helicopter spraying systems within one and a half months. It has stated that it will make every effort to reduce the serious impact of the locust army on the harvest.
