Drones add wings to spring plowing

After spring rain, the temperature rises, which is the key period for wheat to control diseases and pests, promote growth, and promote tillering. Recently, the agricultural department of our city carried out the 2023 wheat “one spray, three prevention” drone flight prevention and pesticide application work in the wheat field of Taizhouwu Village, Wenquan Town, Haidian District. For the first time, drone flight prevention and self-propelled plant protection machines were used to cooperate, laying a solid foundation for summer grain harvest.

In the wheat fields at the head of Taizhouwu Village, thick green wheat waves swayed with the wind, and drones swept over from low altitude, evenly spraying the prepared water onto the wheat fields. On the other end, the automatic forward moving plant protection machine cooperates with the drone to cover the entire wheat field more completely.

The growth process of wheat requires many tests, such as sheath blight, rust, scab, and aphids. These pests and diseases not only affect the growth and yield of wheat, but also may pose health risks after consumption. ‘One spray and three prevention’ is a key technical measure to ensure wheat grain growth, weight gain, and yield increase. Through a single application of pesticides, the goal of preventing diseases and pests, dry hot winds, and increasing grain weight is achieved. The liquid sprayed this time also includes plant growth regulators, which can promote the transformation of wheat seedlings from weak to strong. “The relevant person in charge of the Haidian District Agricultural Technology Service Center said that this year, a total of 421 acres of wheat were planted in Haidian District, distributed in Wenquan Town and Shangzhuang Town, This “one spray and three prevention” is different from the past, using unmanned aerial vehicles and self-propelled plant protection machines to work together, reducing pesticide usage, further reducing agricultural non-point source pollution, and ensuring green, safe, and high yield of food crops. After completing the 250 acre wheat field project in Taizhouwu, Wenquan Town, we will continue to work in the wheat field in Shangzhuang Town.

In the high standard wheat fields of Taizhouwu, there is also a high-tech equipment – a wheat epidemic disease monitor. The person in charge said that this was jointly developed by the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences and plant protection enterprises, which can provide reference for the prediction of wheat diseases. Planting areas can view device information and receive disease predictions in real-time through mobile phones. This is the first deployment test of this equipment in Beijing. According to him, the application of this new prediction and prediction technology will be beneficial for controlling wheat field diseases in the early stages, reducing the pressure of disease prevention and control, reducing pesticide usage, and greatly improving the efficiency and quality of wheat field disease prevention and control.
