In recent years, we have always heard a concept called “smart agriculture” or “digital agriculture”, but many friends actually don’t quite understand what this is.
Smart agriculture utilizes information technologies such as the Internet of Things to transform traditional agriculture, mainly through digital design of agricultural production factors and intelligent control of agricultural IoT technologies and products. Simply put, smart agriculture is about using technology to change the state of farmers’ “facing the loess and facing the sky” and “watching the sky and eating”.
It mainly achieves comprehensive perception, reliable transmission, intelligent processing, and automatic control of agricultural technology through sensing technology, intelligent technology, and network technology.
For example, using water-saving irrigation in rice fields not only replaces flood irrigation and saves water resources, but also saves labor costs. For example, in the past, we used to eat according to the weather and farm according to the 24 solar terms. But smart agriculture will tell us what operations can be carried out now through monitoring data, which has greatly improved the quality and yield of food.
Of course, in addition to the planting industry, farmers also adopt high-tech poultry farming. The chicken houses and pig houses in the village have also achieved modern management. Through intelligent systems, automatic feeding, watering, and fecal cleaning have been achieved, which not only saves a lot of labor costs, but also creates a good growth environment for them through IoT detection and control. Scientific breeding methods have improved the quality of meat and eggs.
