The Guotu Planting Farmers’ Professional Cooperative located in Chenghao Village, Nanhua Town, Gaotai County has been building connected steel frame greenhouses and conducting standardized cultivation demonstrations of Hami melons since 2020. After several years of development, the area has expanded to 400 acres.

The Guotu Planting Farmers’ Professional Cooperative plants Hami melons in a connected steel frame greenhouse, which has great advantages in preventing natural disasters such as frost and rainfall, skillfully planting time difference, and maximizing the use of arable land. It also applies advanced practical technologies such as organic fertilizer application, water fertilizer integration, and green comprehensive prevention and control of diseases and pests. With more and more planting experience, the output efficiency is getting better and better. The annual production of Hami melons reaches 800 tons and sales revenue reaches 6 million yuan. At present, the workers of the Guotu Planting Farmers’ Professional Cooperative are covering with plastic film to prepare for the next seedling transfer. Our shed will be transplanted around April 20th and is expected to be launched in mid to early July. The main varieties we will be planting this year are Yuzhu and Xiaomi, “said Zhao Hai, the director of Guotu Planting Farmers’ Professional Cooperative.

In the intelligent greenhouse of Kangcui Vegetable Professional Cooperative, plates of vegetable seedlings are flourishing and growing happily, and workers are busy thinning seedlings. The person in charge of the cooperative introduced that at the beginning of this spring, they focused their work on vegetable seedling cultivation, and various orders came one after another, doubling the number of seedlings raised compared to previous years. Our spring seedlings this year include chili peppers, tomatoes, black tomatoes, eggplants, and flowers, with a total of over 13 million seedlings, “said Liu Xinghong, the chairman of Kangcui Vegetable Professional Cooperative.

Industrial prosperity leads to agricultural prosperity, and agricultural prosperity leads to rural prosperity. Gaotai County fully explores and utilizes the advantages of ecological resources, with the agricultural supply side structural reform as the main line, and focuses on playing the “important role” of modern agriculture. In accordance with the industrial development layout of “two wings driven, five belts coordinated, park led, and comprehensive promotion”, it has constructed an industrial development structure led by the three major industries of vegetables, seed production, and livestock, supplemented by characteristic industries, and new forms of Gobi agriculture. Build 17 large-scale characteristic industrial bases for grain crops, vegetables for Hong Kong supply, plateau summer vegetables, corn seed production, high-quality chili peppers, and facility watermelons, driving the development of 360000 mu of grain, 180000 mu of vegetables, and 206800 mu of seed production. Following the development strategy of “one after another” and “agriculture as the first and the last”, we adhere to the industrialization thinking to plan the development of agricultural economy. We have successively introduced and cultivated 58 leading enterprises, cultivated 89 agricultural product processing entities, and processed 38000 tons of various agricultural products annually. The conversion rate of agricultural product processing has reached 64.8%.
