In recent years, the development of agricultural technology in Qiandongnan Prefecture has accelerated, with continuous innovation and breakthroughs in new varieties, technologies, equipment, and models. At the beginning of this year, the new corn variety “Lifeng 88” selected by the Qiandongnan Prefecture Academy of Agricultural Sciences passed national approval, becoming the first new crop variety in Qiandongnan Prefecture to pass the approval of the National Crop Variety Approval Committee.
The new corn variety “Lifeng 88” was recommended to participate in the national southwest spring corn (middle and low altitude group) regional trial in 2019, and entered the continuation trial in 2020. The average yield per mu in the two-year regional trial was 547.9kg, an increase of 7.4% compared to the control; In the 2021 production experiment, the average yield per mu was 544kg, an increase of 8.8% compared to the control. Different ecological types participated in pilot projects to achieve full yield increase, with a yield increase rate of 100%.
In recent years, Cengong County has been providing targeted assistance from the University of Electronic Science and Technology to build a smart agricultural cloud platform that integrates 3S technology. It has completed 180 acres of mechanized seedling transplanting experiments, 120 acres of unmanned aerial vehicle pollination experiments, and 3000 acres of “Five Modernizations” base display. It has achieved real-time monitoring of the park’s weather, soil, light intensity, insect infestation, and seedling situation through computers and mobile terminals, improved management effectiveness, and saved seed production costs. Since the application of the platform, the cost of seed production in the county has decreased by more than 26%, and the net income per unit scale has increased by 599 yuan/mu.
