In summer, the vast land of Beijing, Tianjin, and Hebei is full of vitality. One characteristic industry after another is thriving, with high-tech equipment like tigers adding wings and happy smiling faces blooming brightly… The smart agriculture cooperation project in the three regions of Beijing, Tianjin, and Hebei connects the economic lifeline of the Beijing, Tianjin, and Hebei region with the urban-rural cycle, and is related to people’s daily necessities, daily necessities, meals, and four seasons.
The fundamental way out for agriculture lies in modernization, and digitization and intelligence are important paths. Since the implementation of the Beijing Tianjin Hebei coordinated development strategy, our province has strengthened cooperation with Beijing Tianjin by collaborating on projects, conducting research, continuously expanding cooperation areas, and improving the smart agriculture platform. Traditional agricultural production methods have been transformed into high-yield, efficient, and low-consumption smart agriculture models, and more and more farmers are experiencing the sweetness of smart agriculture. Agriculture is becoming an increasingly promising industry.
At the beginning of June, Yutian County and the Vegetable and Flower Research Institute of the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences jointly tested and demonstrated that the new variety Baojian Chinese cabbage planted in spring enjoyed a bumper harvest, and the harvested Chinese cabbage was screened and packaged before being sold to the Beijing market.
Baojian Chinese cabbage is a unique variety of Chinese cabbage in Yutian County. It is named “Baojian” due to its straight shape and sharp top, and is a famous characteristic vegetable variety in the Beijing Tianjin Hebei region. However, in recent years, Baojian Chinese cabbage has been experiencing many problems such as variety degradation, decreased disease resistance, and decreased yield.
This year, Yutian County reached a cooperation agreement with the Vegetable and Flower Research Institute of the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences, inviting many experts to carry out projects such as variety improvement, technology improvement and quality assurance in the local area. Through repeated scientific research and tackling key problems, the variety of Baojian cabbage in spring has been cultivated, from planting in summer to planting in spring and summer, and from one crop of Baojian cabbage to two crops.
As a star product, if Yutian Baojian cabbage is only planted and harvested in the early winter of summer, there will be a gap in the summer market. Although the current planting area of Baojian cabbage in the county is 15000 acres and the output is 75000 tons, the supply still exceeds demand. “Ai Huinuan, director of the Yutian County Vegetable Industry Development Center, introduced that the county has also tried to use facilities and other methods to plant traditional varieties of Baojian cabbage, but they have not been successful. Now, the successful experiment of spring packaged Chinese cabbage has broken the traditional planting pattern, filling the gap in the summer market while ensuring its original taste, and will further enrich the supply of vegetables in the Beijing vegetable market.
