As part of a series of tests, American drones will be used to monitor crops, train tracks, and obtain new news. The Federal Air Administration (FAA) said that it would invite three companies to help it study ways to expand the use of UAVs and release an APP for pilots.
The Federal Air Administration (FAA) said that it would invite three companies to help it study ways to expand the use of UAVs and release an APP for pilots. Anthony Foxx, the secretary of the Transportation in the United States, also said that he hoped to see a wider use of UAVs.
As part of this project, media agency CNN will test how drones can be used for news gathering, while other companies will study how drones can be used for agriculture and railway transportation. The Federal Air Administration of the United States also showed a smart phone app that can help users of UAVs know whether flight is safe and legal.
Michael Hulta of the Federal Air Administration said that this APP, called B4U FLY, will provide cutting-edge information for UAV pilots and model enthusiasts. He said, “We want aviation model enthusiasts to confirm where and whether they can fly.” Regarding flight testing, Mr. Fox said, “The government has some good ideas for aviation, but we cannot operate out of thin air.” “This is a huge project, and we must achieve the goal of expanding a unified unmanned flight system safer and faster by utilizing industry resources and experts
These tests are part of the Pathfinder Program, initiated by Michael Hulta of the Federal Space Agency. He stated that in addition to CNN, drone manufacturer PrecisionHawk and flight orbit company BNSF Railroad will participate in the testing. PrecisionHawk will test how UAVs will be used in agriculture, while BNSF Railroad will test its operation on remote Railway track. Other companies will operate drones outside the pilot’s field of view. “Even if we continue to work hard on the rule making of small unmanned aerial vehicles, we must continue to actively seek the future path to expand the non entertainment use of unmanned Spacewatch.” “This new plan involving three leading American companies will help us predict and determine the needs of the unmanned Spacewatch industry.”
At the beginning of this year, the Federal Space Agency announced a series of rules for the use of small civilian drones. This includes bans on flights near airports, nighttime flights, and flying at altitudes exceeding 500 feet. One of the clauses under discussion is that drones must be within the operator’s field of view throughout the entire process. The space agency stated that it has received a total of over 4500 public comments and will consider them before the final regulations are introduced.
