Yunxian County, Lincang: Drone “Flying Defense” to Ensure Abundant Harvest

At this critical time of rice field cultivation management, Yunxian County, Lincang City, Yunnan Province is vigorously promoting the “flying defense” operation of plant protection UAVs. Through the precise application of pesticides in the concentrated rice fields, the combination of green prevention and control with the rule of unified prevention and control will ensure a bumper harvest of this autumn.

It is reported that a plant protection drone can complete the “fly defense” operation of one acre of rice field in just one minute. One drone can work on an area of about 200 acres per day, which is more than 20 times the efficiency of manual spraying and can reduce pesticide use by more than 30%. Compared to manual spraying, it is more efficient, safe, economical, and environmentally friendly.

In recent years, Yun County has taken multiple measures to focus on food production, firmly shouldering the political responsibility for food security, achieving the same responsibility and joint management of the Party and government, and ensuring that the task of food production is implemented to village groups, farmers, and land plots. In addition, relying on the implementation of land improvement projects, Yun County deepens the strategy of “storing grain in the land and storing grain in technology”, prioritizes the construction of high standard farmland in permanent basic farmland protection zones, grain production functional zones, and important agricultural product production protection zones, and continuously improves the comprehensive production capacity of grain. At present, 432900 mu of high standard farmland has been built in the whole county, greatly improving the utilization rate of Mechanised agriculture.
