Zhenfeng: Unmanned Aerial Vehicle Control Helps to Stabilize Soybean and Corn Production and Increase Income

Currently, it is a critical period for the growth of soybean and corn. Zhenfeng County strictly implements the plant protection policy of “prevention first, comprehensive prevention and control”, guides farmers to manage and protect scientifically, and does a good job in crop Pest control, so as to ensure the high yield of soybean and corn, ensure food security, and promote farmers’ income.

In Longxing Street Soybean and Corn Belt Compound Planting Base, under the corn leaf with more than one person tall, the soybean in orderly arrangement also grows to 60 to 70 cm. The technicians of agricultural machinery professional cooperatives are operating drones for “flying defense” operations, helping farmers manage the fields through scientific and technological means.

My family has planted over 6 acres of soybeans and corn, and the government has come to apply medicine to us. The results are very good and the yield is also high, “said Chen Pulun, a farmer in Wuligang, Longxing Street.

The drone can hold 20 kilograms at a time, with good atomization effect and simple operation. It can continue to work for 100 minutes and can operate on 80 acres of land in one hour, “said Wu Jinshun, a technician at the Agricultural Machinery Professional Cooperative in Weimenshan Village, Longchang Town.

Compared with the traditional manual spray, the UAV spraying pesticides at low altitude has the characteristics of simple operation, fast speed, high efficiency, good quality, low cost, and can also reduce the pollution of pesticides to the field environment. In this “flight prevention” operation, one UAV can complete the pesticide spraying of the 1000 mu soybean and corn belt compound planting base in Longxing Street in only three days, greatly improving the agricultural production efficiency.

“More than 1000 mu of soybean and corn belt composite planting has been developed by actively mobilizing large planting households, cultivating family farms, and cooperatives leading the development of hair. Up to now, crops have grown well, and management and protection have been in place in time. Pest control has been carried out through agricultural machinery planting and unmanned aerial vehicles, which not only reduces the labor input of farmers, but also effectively reduces the cost of management and protection, so that farmers can enjoy the convenience brought by scientific and technological development.” Jiang Chengguang, a technician at the Agricultural Service Center of Longxing Street, said.

This year, Zhenfeng County adopted the “2+3” planting mode, forming a planting mode of three rows of soybeans and two rows of corn. A total of 5500 mu of soybeans and corn were planted in some towns (streets). In addition to leveraging technological advantages to effectively prevent and control diseases and pests, the County Agriculture and Rural Bureau further strengthens technical guidance services, organizes agricultural technicians at all levels of the county, township, and village to go deep into the fields, provide plant protection technical services, guide farmers to do well in field management, and strive to achieve the goal of not reducing corn production and increasing soybean harvest by one season.

“This year, the compound planting of soybean and corn in the county reached 5500 mu, radiating more than 3000 households. At present, the Bureau of Agriculture and Rural Affairs has organized 30 agricultural technicians to carry out ‘flight prevention’ services in various towns (streets), to help people solve the problems of diseases and pests, and strive to achieve a double harvest of soybean and corn, and ensure stable and increased autumn grain yield.” Zhu Zhongsheng, a technician of the Agricultural Technology Promotion Center of the Zhenfeng County Bureau of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, said.
