The villagers were wearing long sleeved pants, rubber shoes and water pants, shuttling between the lotus leaves, busy picking fresh lotus seeds. Villagers with rich harvesting experience told reporters that the condition of lotus seeds is extremely critical, and those that are too young or too old cannot be harvested. The process of searching is often accompanied by regrets and surprises.
Since July, the lotus seeds of over 500 acres of lotus ponds in Jingdi Village have matured one after another. The lotus ponds are harvested every day, and the harvested lotus seeds are immediately delivered to the wholesale market. At present, the wholesale price of lotus seeds is around 10 yuan per kilogram. After the fresh lotus seeds are out of season, the lotus pond will produce dry lotus seeds, which will be transported to the processing plant. Compared to traditional crops, the income from planting Xianglian has increased.
The water network and lakes in Qin City are densely distributed, making it very suitable for developing the Xianglian industry. In recent years, under the guidance of the local government, the area of Xianglian has been continuously expanding, and small lotus seeds have gradually become a major industry in the local area.
