Vegetable greenhouse showcases “technological style”

“Let’s make way, the ‘tomato cart’ is about to pass.” On July 4, in a sunlight shed in Dawn Modern Agricultural Science and Technology Demonstration Park in Yongqiao District, Suzhou, Anhui, the reporter saw baskets of picked tomatoes were sent to the roadside and “sat” on the remote control transport vehicle. Worker Wu Shujuan holds a remote control and controls the transport vehicle to travel uniformly along the track to the sorting and packaging area.

Each shed in the park is equipped with remote control transport vehicles, which is convenient for workers to work inside the shed, saving time and effort. “Zhang Li, the person in charge of the park, told reporters,” In the past, planting vegetables relied on the weather for food, but the efficiency was not high, and the workers were also laborious. Now, digital intelligent equipment is installed in the greenhouses, except for vine winding, pruning, and picking, other processes do not require manual operation.

In the greenhouse of the park, the reporter experienced a full sense of technology. The greenhouse is equipped with digital intelligent devices such as automatic rolling shutters, automatic ventilation fans, environmental parameter sensors, and integrated water and fertilizer, to real-time grasp the growth environment and information of tomatoes. During the growth period, the necessary factors such as water, fertilizer, light, temperature, and humidity for tomatoes are analyzed by the intelligent temperature control system and reasonable adjustment suggestions are proposed. At the same time, controlling temperature, adjusting lighting, watering and fertilizing can all be precisely controlled through the instructions of the Internet of Things system, greatly reducing the labor intensity of workers and improving the yield and quality of tomatoes.

Unlike ordinary planting methods, the biggest highlight of the park is the use of coconut bran soilless cultivation. “Zhang Li introduced that tomatoes grown under the soilless cultivation mode are rooted in the” soil “of coconut bran and grow steadily upwards along the winding rope. During the growth process, there is no need to spray any pesticides, which can effectively avoid soil borne diseases and pests during the planting management process. The tomatoes grown are both sandy, sweet, and healthy, making them truly green and pollution-free vegetables that are deeply loved by consumers.

With the integrated application of technologies such as soilless cultivation, integrated water and fertilizer systems, and intelligent growth environment monitoring and regulation systems, the tomatoes here have been planted for 50000 square meters, with a growth period of about 3 months and an annual output of about 1000 tons, selling well in markets across the country. At present, there are two main sales methods for tomatoes produced in the park. One is to rely on the sales channels of Jiangsu Green Port Supply Chain Management Co., Ltd. to strictly control product quality, unify standard sorting, unified procurement, and order based sales. The other is to supply tomatoes to local supermarkets through e-commerce platforms, offline docking, and other methods when they are about to mature.

The digital intelligent system enables Vegetable farming, so that the traditional agriculture “depends on the weather” becomes “depends on science and technology”. Zhang Li stated that the park will aim to accelerate the development of modern agriculture, promote agricultural efficiency, and increase farmers’ income, promote the deep integration of agriculture and technology, and strive to create a modern agricultural technology demonstration park that integrates scale, standardization, and ecology, providing consumers with healthy, safe, and pollution-free high-quality vegetables.
