A small “vegetable basket” is related to the “people’s livelihood”. At present, it is at the initial stage of autumn vegetable marketing in Gaochang District, Turpan City. Gaochang District insists on both epidemic prevention and control and stable production and supply, and pays full attention to the production of autumn vegetables, which not only guarantees the income of growers during the epidemic prevention and control period, but also guarantees the “vegetable basket” of residents.
According to statistics, the autumn Vegetable farming area in Gaochang District is 9465 mu, with an estimated output of 21000 tons, including 2275 mu of outdoor vegetables and 7190 mu of facility vegetables. The daily harvest volume is about 100 tons, and the overall production is stable.
On October 30th, the author saw at the 10000 acre agricultural facility base in Yarbeshi Village, Ya’er Town that fresh vegetables such as cowpeas, chili peppers, vegetable gourds, and cucumbers were growing well. The workers were busy picking, loading, transporting, and preparing to sell.
As the first demonstration base of facility agriculture in Turpan, Ya’erbexi Village currently has 1227 facility agricultural greenhouses. Since the outbreak of this epidemic, he has been responsible for the work of ensuring the supply of vegetables in Gaochang District. At present, the daily picking volume is about 80 tons, and the average daily supply of vegetables to the urban area of Gaochang District is more than 30 tons.
“In the early stage, we made a survey of the growers’ Vegetable farming and sales, and helped growers to contact customers in time for smooth sales in response to problems such as difficult picking, sales and transportation,” said Parhati Styker, secretary of the Party branch of Yalbeshi Village.
After the outbreak of the epidemic, the Gaochang District Bureau of Agriculture and Rural Affairs actively connected with the Farmers’market, supermarkets, community purchase agencies, etc., and adopted the “point-to-point” model for picking and sales. Through online orders and offline distribution methods, direct procurement and sales are carried out. The planting base sorts and packages the vegetables according to the variety. The freshly picked vegetables are bagged according to the order, and after packaging is completed, they are delivered point-to-point to the guaranteed supply point by a dedicated vehicle, reducing contact between intermediaries and achieving direct access to the city’s dining table from the field. Gaochang District also sells vegetables to other prefectures and cities in an orderly manner in combination with the situation that local vegetables are mainly sold abroad.
While vigorously focusing on the production of vegetables in autumn and winter, Gaochang District strengthened the field management of greenhouse vegetables, orderly guaranteed the demand for agricultural materials in autumn, reasonably arranged the planting plan, focused on leaf vegetables, preferred varieties with short growth cycle and low temperature tolerance, and strengthened the quality inspection of listed vegetables to ensure the quality and safety of listed vegetables.
