The continuous high temperature weather has led to the peak season of watermelon sales. The “Jinlu” seedless yellow flesh watermelon planted in Wanshan Village, Xianshan Town, Hengyang County has become a new favorite in the summer watermelon market due to its high-quality taste.

In Wanshan Village, Xianshan Town, many melon farmers bring freshly picked watermelon to the roadside for sale. Wanshan Village has a long history of cultivating watermelons. In recent years, under the guidance of the agricultural department, Wanshan Village has continuously improved the quality of watermelons and increased planting efficiency, becoming a well-known “watermelon village”. Every summer, many merchants come to buy watermelons.

In order to find new ways to become rich, Wanshan Village has specially introduced the “Jinlu Seedless” watermelon variety. This variety has golden flesh, tender and juicy flesh, high sweetness, and good taste. It has been loved by consumers since its launch, and its price is two to three times higher than that of a typical seedless watermelon. Xiao Chendong, Secretary of the Party General Branch of Wanshan Village, Xianshan Town, introduced that due to the popularity of “Jinlu” watermelons among consumers, the planting area of watermelons in the village has reached over 300 acres, with an average yield of over 6000 yuan per acre. The villagers have a high enthusiasm for planting watermelons.

This summer, watermelon sales in Wanshan Village have been booming, and the village has reached cooperation agreements with many merchants, signing pre-sale orders. The new generation of watermelons in the field has become “famous flowers and owners”. These days, melon farmers are busy raising seedlings, planting, improving and managing, waiting for the second batch of watermelons to harvest in mid August.
