Wushan: “Smart Agriculture” Empowers Rural Revitalization

Recently, upon walking into the Yong’an Village Smart Agriculture Demonstration Park in Miaoyu Town, Wushan County, Chongqing, a sign titled “China Radio and Television Assisting Rural Revitalization” came into sight. On the monitoring screen, you can clearly see the lush and promising seedlings at the time of jointing and booting.

Li Shangqian, a grain grower, holds a mobile phone and stands in front of the high standard farmland screen in Temple Town, Smart Agriculture, checking the soil moisture and rice growth in the fields one by one. Now, I can learn about the growth of rice in the entire field without entering the field. I no longer need to wake up early and touch the darkness to turn the fields, “said Li Shangqian.

Li Shangqian is a major grain grower in the local area, planting around 1200 acres of rice annually through land transfer. He made full use of the geographical advantages of high mountain basins and used technological means to write great articles on modern agriculture in mountainous areas. Mechanization has been implemented in seedling cultivation, planting, management, harvesting, etc., achieving a magnificent transformation from manpower to intelligence.

In order to assist in rural revitalization, China Radio and Television Chongqing Company, combined with the construction of high standard farmland, collaborated with Chongqing Wushan Zhenxing Agricultural Group to jointly carry out a construction project based on 5G+high standard farmland intelligence improvement in Miaoyu Town, known as the “Wuxia Granary”, utilizing their respective advantages. They fully utilized China Radio and Television’s 700M advantage frequency band to build cloud, management, and end integrated products.

In the 1000 acre contiguous farmland of Changliang, Yong’an, and other areas in Miaoyu Town, we will carry out the construction of a digital farmland demonstration park. In accordance with the requirements of intelligent agricultural production, networked management, data-driven management, and online service, all production, management, and service information in the park will be gathered into a big data center through a 5G network for unified management and service; Build a geographic information GIS map of the agricultural park, and have a clear understanding of the current agricultural development status of the park at a glance; The ultimate goal of digitizing the park is to achieve the “Four Ones”, namely, one map view of agriculture, rural areas, and farmers, one warehouse for all, one network management for the entire process, and one person for all positions, achieving a leap towards digitalization in park management.

At the same time, integrating technologies such as 5G Internet of Things, sensors, cloud platforms, and big data into farmland planting to achieve intelligent and refined farmland management. Various intelligent sensors can collect parameters such as air humidity, soil temperature and humidity, and light intensity 24/7. For example, when farmland becomes thirsty, the system automatically alerts and managers can water it with just one click through their phones. The intelligent irrigation system uses a mobile phone to remotely switch on and off the water valve, which automatically opens and closes to a certain extent. By providing meteorological, pest, soil moisture, and seedling conditions through smart agricultural systems and related supporting facilities, we can achieve high standard farmland data management and intelligent control.

Through digital management and intelligent control, we can increase the average grain production capacity per mu in the project area by 10% -20%, save water and fertilizer by 10%, and achieve cost and efficiency savings of over 300 yuan per mu. “Liu Lin, the leader of the demonstration project for high standard farmland transformation and improvement of Wushan Zhenxing Agricultural Group, introduced.
