Ganzhou City, Jiangxi Province, is promoting the deep integration of modern information technology and traditional agriculture, utilizing technologies such as 5G, Internet of Things, big data, and artificial intelligence to achieve intelligent and platform based management of the entire planting and breeding process. As of now, the city has recognized 3 national digital agriculture innovation application (scenario) bases, 2 national agricultural and rural informatization demonstration bases, 48 provincial-level agricultural IoT demonstration bases (enterprises), and 40 municipal level ones. It has built 3 smart seedling centers and 6 digital agricultural service centers. To accelerate the digital transformation of agriculture and enhance the new vitality of high-quality development of the agricultural industry.
Currently, digital technology is increasingly integrated into the entire process of economic and social development in various fields, becoming a key force in restructuring factor resources, reshaping economic structure, and actively creating markets. Digital empowerment has opened up new space and created new possibilities for the development of agriculture and rural areas. Whether it is refined management such as all-weather monitoring and remote control, or digital applications such as e-commerce and live streaming sales, digital technology has permeated all aspects of crop cultivation, planting, management, and sales. Rural industrial forms are constantly enriched and industrial clusters are constantly formed, promoting more precise and efficient agricultural production.
From the perspective of improving the level of agricultural digitization, there are abundant agricultural resources, a variety of characteristic agricultural products, and a large output, which provide important industrial support for achieving green development and green rise. The digital economy has significant characteristics of cross regional collaboration, cross temporal and spatial links, and cross industry integration. Its rapid development helps to connect the upstream and outbound channels of agricultural products, and thus becomes a powerful driving force for green rise. Therefore, big data technology should be utilized to promote the safety and quality improvement of agricultural products. For example, sensor data can be used to timely regulate the conditions required for crop growth, maximize agricultural production potential, fundamentally reduce dependence on fertilizers and pesticides, promote the “control of illegal activities and drug residues”, and achieve green, high-quality, and safe development.
The rapid and healthy development of digitalization in the entire agricultural industry chain requires the formation of joint efforts in top-level design, technological innovation, data application, talent construction, and other aspects. Accelerate digital technology innovation, rely on research institutes, universities, leading enterprises, and other entities to build a batch of agricultural big data innovation centers and key laboratories, release a batch of agricultural full industry chain digital core key technology research and development catalogs, strengthen core key technology research and development, encourage and support research institutes and related enterprises to carry out joint research and development, and promote deep integration of industry, academia, research and application. Strengthen digital product innovation, service innovation, and model innovation, continuously improve product quality, expand and strengthen product brands, and explore diversified digital application scenarios.
Accelerate the digital transformation of agriculture and enhance new vitality for development. In the era of digital economy, digital literacy is the foundation and prerequisite for the application and promotion of various digital technologies. The digital transformation has made livestock and poultry farming, field management, machinery and equipment more intelligent, playing an important role in improving agricultural production efficiency and increasing farmers’ income. We need to further promote the deep integration of information technologies such as artificial intelligence, the Internet of Things, big data, cloud computing, and 5G with agriculture, establish a sound sharing mechanism, provide new momentum for high-quality agricultural development, build a rural big data platform, develop high-tech agricultural application scenarios such as smart farms and digital seed industries, promote the digitization of the agricultural industry, and assist in rural revitalization.
