September 2, 2023- Recently, officials from the Ministry of Agriculture recommended a smart greenhouse located in Wushi Town, where the smart agricultural facilities were highly praised and attracted widespread attention. In order to gain a deeper understanding of the current agricultural situation and technological needs in the area, members of the Jue Jiang Dream Practice Team from China University of Metrology immediately went to the area for on-site inspection.
After arriving in Wushi Town, the members of the Hoe Jiang Dream Practice Team patiently waited for the guidance of local farmers. During the waiting process, the farmer enthusiastically provided a locally grown watermelon to the team members and communicated with the technician about the urgently needed technical equipment in the local area: cold soaking field plowing machinery. Due to the location of Wushi Town in a hilly and valley area, it has been affected by the immersion of cold springs, resulting in the formation of a cold soaked field. The accumulation of silt is severe, and there is a huge risk of artificial planting in the field. However, the existing mechanical equipment cannot meet the demand for comprehensive planting. The members of the Hoe Jiang Dream Practice Team envisioned using a lightweight floating small machinery to complete the plowing work.
In addition, they also learned that although Wushi Town is a major agricultural town in Pingjiang, the local rice planting industry is not very popular. In addition to the factors of cold soaked fields, the income earned by the local agricultural automation level is not enough to bear the expenses of relying on labor. The members of the Hoe Jiang Dream Practice Team admitted that without the government’s subsidy dividends, the vast majority of rice growers would face the risk of losses. This has made them more determined in their plans to visit the countryside and deeply aware of the high level and difficulty required for farming. Only by coming from the public can we find technologies that truly meet local needs and avoid the dilemma of formalism in practice.
Subsequently, members of the Hoe Jiang Dream Practice Team followed local farmers to the smart greenhouse. The greenhouse mainly grows peaches and chili peppers. After entering the greenhouse, they immediately noticed a huge display screen recording the current temperature and humidity. The smart agricultural technology is already quite mature, using photovoltaic power generation panels to power the mechanical equipment inside the greenhouse, and connecting the sprinkler system and temperature and humidity sensors to maintain the temperature and humidity inside the greenhouse within a suitable range. The members of the Hoe Jiang Dream Practice Team visited the entire greenhouse, satisfying their curiosity and witnessing the successful application of smart agriculture in the local area.
Through this inspection, the members of the Hoe Jiang Dream Practice Team are full of confidence in the agricultural development prospects of Wushi Town. They will continue to collaborate with local farmers and technicians to explore more innovative smart agricultural solutions and bring greater development opportunities to local agriculture.
