Drone flight protection and planting protection, stable production and income increase of aviation and summer crops

Yongde County relies on agricultural related projects to seize the holidays and carry out unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) flight prevention and plant protection in 30000 acres of key corn and rice planting areas throughout the county, with unified prevention and control to ensure stable summer grain production and income increase.

Drone flight prevention and plant protection is a newly promoted and widely used technology for crop disease and pest control in recent years. Compared to traditional manual spraying, drone spraying is uniform, efficient, and effective, achieving the goal of reducing work and costs, improving quality and efficiency. Li Guangwen, a resident of Banpo Village in Xiaomengtong Town, praised the flying prevention and plant protection technology after seeing his 10 acre corn field sprayed with pesticides by drones. “This medicine is not only free to use, but also fast, and we farmers are the biggest beneficiaries.

Yang Chunping, Deputy Secretary of the Party General Branch of Banpo Village in Xiaomengtong Town, introduced that in the past, the masses could only spray 3-4 acres of corn per day through manual spraying, and it was difficult to achieve large-scale continuous prevention and control. Now, drones are used for aerial defense and plant protection. One drone can complete spraying tasks of around 300 acres per day, with high work efficiency. It is expected that more than 3000 acres of corn fields in Banpo Village can be sprayed by three drones in 4-5 days, achieving unified prevention and control.

In order to ensure the stable production and income increase of summer grain this year, the Agriculture and Rural Bureau of Yongde County, relying on the central disaster relief project funds, has implemented drone flight prevention and plant protection in the key planting areas of corn and rice in Yongkang Town, Xiaomengtong Town, Chonggang Township, Daxueshan Township, Mengdi Farm, aiming to reduce planting costs for farmers, improve the efficiency of crop disease and pest control, truly achieve unified prevention and control, and increase grain production and income for farmers Lu Jingkai, Deputy Director of the Agriculture and Rural Bureau of Yongde County, introduced that this drone flight prevention and plant protection mainly focuses on the prevention and control of pests and diseases such as aphids in corn and rice, nocturnal moth in grassland, and rice leaf roller. The plan is to spray 30000 acres to ensure food security in the entire county.

Since 2019, Yongde County has maintained a grain planting area of over 840000 mu and an annual output of over 200000 tons. In 2020, it was awarded the title of a major grain producing county in Yunnan Province.
