As people’s demands for agricultural products become higher, rural land becomes more concentrated, and there are more and more talents returning to their hometowns for construction, traditional farming methods are gradually unable to meet the demand. The Youxing Smart Family Farm in Luojiang District, located in Group 4, Dengzhan Village, Yanjia Town, Luojiang District, Deyang City, was established in 2019. It mainly engages in high-quality beef cattle breeding and grass planting. The farm has transferred over 40 acres of land, with good infrastructure and relatively complete equipment, basically reaching the level of standardization and mechanization, and has been rated as a provincial-level demonstration farm.
Farmer Chen Xiuyuan is a standard ‘new farmer’. He graduated from Sichuan Agricultural University with a major in Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine. For 30 years, he has been continuously researching the breeding technology and service work of cows and beef cattle. He has rich practical experience in disease prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of cattle, and holds the title of intermediate (veterinary) physician. He is a representative of the “Nine Major” of Sichuan Provincial Association for Science and Technology, a demonstration of the “Golden Bridge Project” project organization in Deyang City, and an executive vice president of the Deyang Cattle and Sheep Industry Association. In addition, they actively cooperate with universities and plan to build teaching bases, imparting frontline experience to more people, and continuously strengthening the rural “new farmers” team through “big farmers” leading “small farmers” and “new farmers” leading “college students”.
Since its establishment, the farm has relied on the technology, talents, projects, and platform advantages of cooperative units such as the Beijing Institute of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine, the Institute of Agricultural Resources and Zoning, the Planning and Design Institute of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, Peking University, Sichuan Agricultural University, and the Sichuan Academy of Agricultural Sciences. Through the introduction and transfer of advanced technology and cooperation with Beijing and Sichuan, the construction of high-quality beef cattle fattening and breeding demonstration bases, technological integration and innovation Significant progress has been made in the implementation of major projects, highlighting good economic and social benefits.
The construction of Youxing Farm aims at the direction of intensive and efficient development of modern animal husbandry, continuously improving production infrastructure, expanding development scale, improving new varieties, and promoting the healthy and sustainable development of animal husbandry; Actively exploring the deep integration of the Internet of Things, big data, and animal husbandry, and creating an intelligent beef cattle breeding demonstration farm with remote sensing monitoring, remote diagnosis, and precise operation; Implement the modern beef cattle breeding industry led by smart animal husbandry, continuously improve product added value, and achieve the development goals of good variety, excellent quality, and refined brand.
