Jinggu: Technology Assisted Agricultural Drone “Flying Defense” 80000 acres of sugarcane

At present, it is a critical period for sugarcane cultivation field management and a period of high incidence of diseases and pests. Jinggu Dai and Yi Autonomous County in Pu’er City has launched drone control operations on 80000 acres of sugar cane in the county.

At the sugarcane planting base in Yongping Town, Jinggu County, the technical personnel of Yongping Branch of Yangpu Nanhua Sugar Industry Co., Ltd. in Jinggu County first emphasized the construction specifications, technical requirements, and other precautions, and then carried out drone test flights and spraying activities on site. The drone pilot poured the mixed pesticides into the medicine box, and then the three test flight drones began aerial operations. It only took more than ten minutes, and nearly 20 acres of sugarcane forest for the test flight were all sprayed.

We started introducing drones for sugarcane management in 2017. Drone spraying not only saves the cost of sugarcane farming, but also has good spraying atomization effect, making the spraying more precise and uniform. It can better prevent diseases and pests, improve the yield and sweetness of sugarcane, not only help farmers increase income, but also effectively improve the product quality of our sugar factory According to Fan Yingfu, General Manager of Yongping Branch of Yangpu Nanhua Sugar Industry Co., Ltd. in Jinggu County.

It is reported that 22 drones have been deployed in the “Flying Prevention” campaign in Yongping Town, which is expected to take 40 days to complete the 36000 mu sugarcane forest spraying operation. The chemicals used have been upgraded and have strong stability, and have three effects: disease prevention, pest prevention, and foliar fertilization. Combined with efficient drone spraying, it is expected to achieve a 5% increase in sugarcane yield per mu and a 5% increase in sugar content.

Luo Qibing, a sugarcane farmer in Yongping Town, told reporters, “My family has grown 200 tons of sugar cane. I started using drones to apply medicine four years ago. In the past, it was difficult to shuttle back and forth in the sugarcane fields, and there was a risk of heatstroke and poisoning. It took about three days for the two people to complete the project. Now, I have been using drones for almost an hour, and after selling the sugarcane, I can increase my income by over 100000 yuan.

Due to the good spraying effect and high work efficiency of drones, more and more farmers are joining the “flight prevention” team. As of now, more than 2300 sugarcane farmers in Yongping Town have used drones to control diseases and pests on sugarcane fields, producing approximately 280000 tons of sugar cane annually, achieving an economic benefit of about 130 million yuan. At the same time, sugarcane forests sprayed by drones can receive a national subsidy of 20 yuan per acre, effectively implementing the goal of benefiting people’s livelihoods.
