Plant protection drones transform into “good helpers” for farmers

A few days ago, the reporter walked into Arong Banner, Hulunbeier City, Inner Mongolia, and was in the soybean planting field of the 16th company (team) of Hulunbeier Agricultural Reclamation Najitun Farmland Co., Ltd. The endless soybean fields were emitting bursts of fragrance. Under the gentle wind, the waves moved forward. Under the operation of technical personnel, four plant protection drones rose into the air and flew towards the vast soybean field, spraying loaded foliar fertilizer on soybean seedlings to ensure their strength, podding, and high yield.

Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region is an important soybean production base in China, with concentrated advantageous production areas, and is a typical high-quality green soybean industry belt in China. In recent years, the sown area and total yield of soybeans in Inner Mongolia have experienced a restorative growth, with the highest sown area reaching 18.025 million mu, ranking second in the country. At present, it is a critical period for mid-term field management of soybeans. In order to increase soybean production, Najitun Farm Co., Ltd. has launched a large-scale drone spraying operation.

The efficiency of plant protection drone operation is high. Compared with traditional manual fertilization, the efficiency of each plant protection drone spraying fertilizer is equivalent to 60 labor forces, which can greatly save rural labor. “Yang Peng, the director of the company’s Agriculture and Animal Husbandry Technology Department, introduced that this year, Najitun Farm Co., Ltd. used 16 drones for soybean spraying operations. Each plant protection drone can load about 40 liters of leaf fertilizer, and the daily operation is about 1200 acres, The daily workload of 16 drones is around 20000 acres, and they can complete spraying in 2-3 days.

With the assistance of technology, field management is comfortable. In July 2021, the Agriculture and Animal Husbandry Department and the Finance Department of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region issued the “Implementation Plan for Subsidies for Agricultural Machinery Purchase from 2021 to 2023”, emphasizing the need to vigorously support innovative agricultural machinery products to be included in the subsidy scope, comprehensively carry out the subsidy work for the purchase of unmanned aerial vehicles for plant protection, and continue to guide the standardized application of unmanned aerial vehicles for plant protection pilot projects in accordance with relevant regulations.

In recent years, Arong Banner has focused on the integrated promotion of new varieties, new technologies, and new models, with a focus on demonstrating and promoting technologies such as two (three) rows of soybean on large ridges and high platforms, three rows of soybean on ridges, and three rows of narrow furrow and dense planting on soybean ridges. The demonstration of integrated technologies such as grain and soybean rotation, increased organic fertilizer application, fine land preparation, and full mechanization has promoted the promotion of high yield and efficient technologies for dense planting, driving large-scale balanced yield increase and efficiency improvement, Consolidate the foundation for stable and increased grain production.
