Smart agriculture promotes development

The key to rural revitalization is to find the right development path. If the path is right, the villagers’ money bags can be boosted. This is the work philosophy that Di Weisheng, a rural revitalization resident assistance cadre of China Mobile Gansu Company, has always adhered to. In recent years, with the support and assistance of China Mobile Gansu Company, Di Weisheng has taken the construction of “digital intelligence rural” as the starting point, which has not only paved a new path for industrial development in the village, but also boosted the people’s money bags in one digital intelligence industry after another.

In response to the weak development of rural industries and low income of farmers in the mountainous areas of Dangchang County, Di Weisheng, relying on the local advantages of good forest climate and ecological resources, came up with the “5G+Smart Traditional Chinese Medicine” planting project. Among them, China Mobile Gansu Company, relying on a wide network coverage foundation, has created a dedicated digital rural platform based on data-driven and service-oriented “agriculture, rural areas, and farmers”, which has created the most favorable conditions for the local development of “5G+Smart Traditional Chinese Medicine” projects. After multiple arguments, Zhuyuan Township has finally determined the “5G+Smart Traditional Chinese Medicine” project.

In 2022, Di Weisheng once again led the villagers into the field of smart agriculture. In this year, Di Weisheng took edible mushrooms as the starting point and built a 30 acre open-air fungus base in Zhuyuan Township. This fungus base, equipped with a 5G intelligent detection system and an automatic irrigation system, can plant 300000 sticks of fungus at once. Along with it, there are also fungus processing and warehousing supporting workshops to ensure the production and processing of fungus and other supporting industries, greatly enhancing the base’s ability to bring wealth. It is understood that the annual income of this fungus base alone can reach 800000 yuan, directly driving 620 people from 147 poverty-stricken households in Dacaopo Village and Muzhuyuan Village in Zhuyuan Township, and 19 households from the third category to increase their income, solving the problem of more than 70 villagers from adjacent 8 villages finding employment nearby.

In 2023, Dacaopo Village continued to move forward with great strides, leveraging the advantages of natural environment and 5G smart agricultural system to extend its tentacles to the “King of Wild Vegetables” in Wulong Tou. In May, the 500 acre “5G+Smart Oolong Head Planting Base” project was successfully launched. Di Weisheng and the villagers completed the first planting of Oolong Head. Based on market prices this year, this planting base is expected to generate an annual economic income of 220000 yuan. In addition, Di Weisheng actively coordinated and built a 150 acre party ginseng seedling breeding base in Dacaopo Village through the participation and circulation of the masses led by the cooperative, further expanding the scale and types of 5G+smart agriculture in Dacaopo Village.

There are so many industries in the village nowadays, and people can make money in the fields and work outside their homes. Even the young people who went out to work a few years ago are gradually returning, and the village is much more lively than before. “As Da Cao Po villager Ma Da Ye said, various industries in the village are flourishing now, and the villagers’ lives are getting more prosperous.
