In the past, when planting strawberries and raising ridges, one person needed to drive a walking tractor and guide the tractor head to align with a straight line. Even a skilled operator could not achieve the same width and straight grooves when driving a walking tractor alone. Now, the tractor is equipped with a ‘sky eye’ that can automatically plan the path for driving. The Beidou navigation auto drive system uses high-precision Beidou satellite positioning and orientation to control the electric steering wheel according to the current vehicle position and heading, so that the vehicle can travel along the planned path. The use of autopilot operation can ensure high operation accuracy and uniform line spacing, which helps reduce the driver’s labor intensity, improve work efficiency, and improve land utilization. It is a good helper for farmers. “Especially in the busy farming season, even if the view is bad in the dark, the Beidou navigation auto drive system system can work, and the quality of trenching is not affected, so the role of replacing manual work is particularly obvious,” said Zhang Jiamao.
In recent years, driven by the demonstration of unmanned farm projects, agricultural machinery navigation, remote operation and maintenance, and operation monitoring technologies and applications based on the Beidou series have developed rapidly. At present, Xinye Village in Zhuangxing Town has established a grain unmanned farm with an area of 2300 acres. By 2025, the city will build 100000 acres of unmanned farms, with Fengxian District completing the construction task of 13000 acres. The use of Beidou navigation auto drive system system for furrowing and ridging in strawberry production is the first case in the city, and it is also the first step taken by the unmanned farm towards intelligent operation of cash crops.
Under the joint collaboration of Fengxian District Agricultural Technology Promotion Center and Fengxian District Agricultural Mechanization Promotion Center, agricultural machinery and agronomy are highly integrated, and Beidou application empowers the future and leads the development of modern agriculture. At present, agricultural machinery equipment based on Beidou navigation has expanded from plant protection drones to tractors, combine harvesters, transplanters, hole seeders, etc., and is applied in agricultural production processes such as plowing, rice planting, field management, and joint harvesting, injecting new energy and adding new vitality to the high-quality development of agriculture.
