In recent days, in Changtan Village, Taijiang County, Guizhou Province, the scenery has been dazzling with golden yellow. The yellow rice fields and heavy rice ears are gently blown by the breeze, and the rice waves are stacked one after another. The golden yellow rice ears move gently with the wind, reflecting the harvest season. The scenery is still so unique.
In the rice planting dam area of Changtan Village in Laotun Township, accompanied by the sound of “boom boom, boom” machines, harvesters shuttle back and forth in the rice fields, carrying out harvesting operations. Successive batches of rice are continuously drawn into the harvesters, harvesting and threshing in one go. At the edge of the rice field, the loading truck was transporting rice to heaven and earth in great heat.
According to Zhou Xingwen, the first secretary of Changtan Village in Laotun Township, Changtan Dam area is one of the rice planting demonstration sites in Taijiang County. Currently, the rice is in its mature stage, and villagers are seizing the sunny weather to contact the rural agricultural machinery cooperative team for mechanized harvesting of rice.
This year, I contracted for more than 10 acres of rice fields, and the cost of mechanical harvesting is much lower than that of manual labor. Manual harvesting costs at least 500 yuan per acre, while mechanical harvesting only costs around 200 yuan per acre, which is both time and labor saving compared to manual labor. “Watching the plump rice being harvested and bagged, Jiang Zhonghua, a grain grower in Rongshan Village, Laotun Township, said.
In recent years, Taijiang County has actively promoted mechanized field operations, striving to achieve full mechanization of farming, sowing, weeding, and machine harvesting. While ensuring cost saving and income increase, it has increased the planting enthusiasm of farmers and effectively ensured the stable and safe supply of food and important agricultural products. At present, Taijiang County has purchased over 150 agricultural machinery for various types of cultivation and harvesting, including combine harvesters, tractors, and rapeseed precision seeders.
Mechanized harvesting of rice, rapeseed, or corn can achieve one-time harvesting, threshing, and straw crushing and returning to the field. Returning straw can improve soil fertility, protect farmland quality, reduce the use of fertilizers and pesticides, reduce agricultural pollution, protect the ecological environment, and improve quality.
In 2023, through the implementation of the agricultural machinery socialization service project in Taijiang County, many large grain farmers have tasted the sweetness, and the mechanization level of rice, rapeseed, corn, potatoes and other crops has been significantly improved. The structure of agricultural machinery equipment has been significantly optimized, laying a solid foundation for supporting the development of the agricultural industry.
