Unmanned harvesters assist in late rice harvesting

In Bajiaoshan Village, Baoguang Street, Gaozhou City, Maoming City, a brand new harvester is running at full power and shuttling through the fields. Surprisingly, this harvester turned out to be unmanned.

With the roar of the machine and the guidance of the Beidou satellite positioning system, the unmanned harvester automatically turns according to a predetermined route, aligns the front of the vehicle, harvests and threshes… all in one fell swoop, and the golden rice is collected by the unmanned harvester.

Thanks to the advanced technology of Luo Xiwen, an academician of the CAE Member, in March 2022, Maoming “unmanned farm” rice production mechanization base was settled in Guangdong Lijing Agricultural Science and Technology Co., Ltd., and 50 mu of experimental fields were sown in Bajiaoshan Village. “Unmanned harvesters have many advantages. The first is high efficiency and labor saving. It only takes two people to complete the operation in a 50 acre rice field. The second is high accuracy.” Cheng Zusen, general technical consultant of Guangdong Lijing Agricultural Technology Co., Ltd., told reporters.

Compared to traditional agricultural machinery, the biggest advantage of unmanned agricultural machinery is that it frees up manpower, reduces labor costs, and can work 24 hours without interruption while maintaining the same harvesting efficiency, with obvious advantages. The person in charge of Guangdong Lijing Agricultural Technology Co., Ltd. stated that the next step will be to deeply implement the strategy of storing grain in the ground and storing grain in technology, improve the informatization and intelligence level of agricultural mechanization, explore new ways for the future agricultural development of Gaozhou, and inject scientific and technological strength into the revitalization of Gaozhou rural areas.
