Usage and Maintenance Methods for Battery of Plant Protection UAV

It is the peak season for spring ploughing and fertilization again.

Large and small agricultural plant protection drones fly in the fields, working hard for the autumn harvest. The batteries of drones, which provide surging power for drones, undertake very heavy flight tasks, coming and going, and flying continuously. How to use and protect the batteries of plant protection drones has become the most concerned issue for many pilots.

As an enterprise established for 18 years, with a complete range of plant protection drone products and a product line covering various models, providing power for countless plant protection drones, the technical staff of Zhengfang Technology Company are very experienced in the maintenance of plant protection batteries. Today, let me tell you how to properly maintain the intelligent battery of agricultural drones and extend the battery life.

1. Smart battery cannot be discharged

The intelligent battery used by the plant protection drone should be used within a reasonable voltage range, and greedy flying is prohibited. If the voltage is too high, it can damage the battery at a light level, and if the voltage is too low, it can cause the machine to explode. Some pilots have fewer batteries, so they fly to the limit every time they fly, which can shorten their battery life. Therefore, during normal flight, try to charge and discharge the battery shallowly to increase its service life.

After each flight, the battery should be recharged in a timely manner after being stored for a long time to avoid excessive storage, which can lead to low battery voltage, the main board light not being lit and unable to charge and work, and in serious cases, the battery may be scrapped.

2. Safe placement of smart batteries

handle gently. The skin of a battery is an important structure to prevent battery explosion and liquid leakage from catching fire. Damage to the skin of a battery will directly lead to battery fire or explosion. Smart batteries should be handled with care. When fixing smart batteries on agricultural drones, the batteries should be fastened to the medicine box. Due to the possibility that during a large dynamic flight or crash, the battery may fall off and throw out due to not being fastened, which may easily cause damage to the battery skin.

Do not charge or discharge in high/low temperature environments. Extreme temperatures can affect the performance and lifespan of smart batteries. Before charging, check whether the used smart batteries have cooled down. Do not charge or discharge in cold garages, basements, direct sunlight, or near heat sources.

3. Safe transportation of intelligent batteries

Smart batteries are most afraid of bumps and friction, and transportation bumps may cause internal short circuits in smart batteries, resulting in unnecessary accidents. At the same time, it is necessary to avoid conductive substances from contacting the positive and negative electrodes of smart batteries simultaneously. During transportation, the best method is to separately cover the battery with a self sealing bag and place it in an explosion-proof box.

4. Keep away from pesticides and soaking water to prevent battery corrosion

The liquid medicine in operation has certain corrosiveness to the smart battery, and improper external protection can also cause corrosion to the smart battery. Incorrect use may also cause corrosion to the plug of the smart battery. Therefore, users must avoid drug corrosion of smart batteries after charging and during actual work. After the completion of the operation, the smart battery must be placed away from drugs to reduce the corrosion of drugs on the smart battery.

5. Regularly check the battery appearance and power level

Regularly inspect the main body, handle, wire, and power plug of the smart battery, and observe whether the appearance is damaged, deformed, corroded, discolored, or broken, as well as whether the plug is too loose from the aircraft.

At the end of this operation, the surface of the battery and the power plug must be wiped with a dry cloth to ensure that there are no pesticide residues to prevent corrosion of the battery. After the completion of flight operations, the temperature of the smart battery is relatively high, and it is necessary to wait until the temperature of the smart battery in flight drops below 40 ℃ before charging it (the optimal temperature range for charging the smart battery in flight is 5 ℃ to 40 ℃).

6. Intelligent battery emergency disposal

If the intelligent battery suddenly catches fire during charging, first cut off the power supply of the intelligent fast charging system equipment; Use asbestos gloves or tongs to remove the burning smart battery next to the intelligent fast charging system and place it on the ground or in a fire sand bucket. Cover the flames of the smart battery burning on the ground with an asbestos blanket. The fire sand buries the asbestos blanket to isolate the air and suffocate it.

If it is necessary to discard an exhausted smart battery, the battery should be completely soaked in salt water for more than 72 hours to ensure that it is fully discharged before being dried and discarded.

Do not: use dry powder to extinguish solid metal chemical fires, as dry powder requires a large amount of dust cover, and has a corrosive effect on equipment, polluting the space.
