Recently, in a large rice field in Jianghai Village, Nanqiao Town, Fengxian District, Shanghai, with the roar of the engine, an agricultural plant protection drone flew at a low altitude and at a constant speed above the rice field under the control of the operator. Under the wind pressure of the propeller, the fuselage continuously sprays pesticides from the side and evenly sprinkles them on the farmland. It took only 3 hours for the operators to complete the pesticide spraying of 108 mu of rice fields. If pesticides are sprayed manually, it takes 4 people a day to complete. With the plant protection drone, it only takes two or three days to complete the spraying of pesticides on 3,380 mu of mid-late rice.

Within a few months from rice transplanting to harvesting, 4 to 6 times of pest control are required, and now it has reached a critical period of pest control. Recently, in the rice fields of Nanqiao Town, the number of farmers spraying pesticides and fertilizing by hand is much less, replaced by this kind of “big guy” that can fly in the sky – plant protection drones. Although the size looks big, the “big guy” is very convenient to operate. Before the plant protection operation, use the software to plan the route of the spraying area, design the flight spraying route of the drone, and then charge, check, and take off, and the drone will automatically fly and spray according to the set route pesticide. At this time, the pilot only needs to pay close attention to the drone’s power and medicine. Compared with traditional manual spraying, drone spraying pesticides not only saves time and effort, but also spreads pesticides more evenly than manual spraying, and saves water.

It is understood that in Nanqiao Town, Fengxian District, Shanghai, plant protection drones can not only spray pesticides, but also be used for rice seeding and fertilization. With the continuous development of technology, some plant protection drones also have functions such as intelligent surveying and mapping, and the operation is easier to use, making agriculture smarter and more efficient.
