The demonstration also invited leaders from the Plant Protection Station of the Fujian Provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Affairs and experts and professors from the Plant Protection College of Fujian A&F University to present and popularize smart plant protection technologies for farmers.

Minhou County is the hometown of olives in China, with the planting area of olives ranking among the top in the country, and Baisha Navel Orange 52 is also one of Minhou County’s agricultural brand products. Various olive and citrus trees planted in the hilly areas along the river are prone to frequent pests and diseases in April and May. Artificial spraying of pesticides to eliminate pests requires a lot of manpower and resources, and it is also easy to cause pesticide exceeding standards. Therefore, the problem of pests and diseases has become a long-standing problem that has troubled farmers for many years.

At the demonstration meeting, a plant protection drone filled with pesticides shuttled back and forth along the trapezoidal slope, spraying pesticides accurately on the crops in a mist. In just ten minutes, the drone completed the pesticide spraying task on 10 acres of olive trees, which was a workload that could only be completed by manual spraying for a whole day in the past. The modern agricultural plant protection technology has made planters praise it frequently.

With the aging of agricultural planting population and the intensification of arable land, the demand for socialized custody services in agricultural production is gradually expanding. Smart plant protection technology services are an extremely important part of agricultural socialization services. Minhou County is collaborating with relevant provincial and municipal departments, as well as universities such as Fujian A&F University, to vigorously promote this technology and promote farmers’ production and income increase through smart agriculture.
