Double Brand: Unmanned Aerial Vehicles Show Their Skills, Technology Empowers Agricultural Production

“Science and technology not only put wings on the development of agricultural industry, but also lightened the burden of farmers.” Recently, in the high standard farmland planting base in Shuangjing Village, Jiangcun Town, Shuangpai County, Liao Jun, the village’s reserve cadre, was operating UAVs to implement pesticide spraying operations. Speaking of the convenience brought by UAVs, he smiled.

After Liao Jun loaded the prepared liquid medicine into the machine, he unfolded the drone propeller and held the drone remote control to configure the flight trajectory. With a gentle click on the takeoff button, the drone quickly took off, skimming through the fields from south to north at low altitudes, and applying the pesticide accurately and orderly according to the designated route. In less than half an hour, the pesticide spraying work on more than 20 acres of rice fields was completed.

This year, the Shuangjing Village Qinong Cooperative has transferred nearly 500 acres of fertile land to plant early rice. According to the traditional manual planting mode, one person can only plant about 5 acres per day. Now equipped with a drone capable of carrying 25 kilograms of liquid medicine, it can complete pesticide spraying on 500 acres of rice fields in two days, saving time, effort, and cost. Liao Jun stated that he has proficiently mastered the operational skills of drones, helping grain farmers apply medicine, which can also be considered as his meager contribution to helping farmers increase their income.

In recent years, Jiangcun Town of Shuangpai County has vigorously promoted the use of modern agricultural planting means, such as mechanical seedling planting, UAV fertilization, UAV Pest control and mechanized harvesting, to promote the mechanization and intelligence of agricultural production, greatly improving the level and efficiency of agricultural production, not only promoting farmers’ income, but also improving farmers’ enthusiasm for planting.
