Jiangxi Shangrao: Drone Assists in Planting Majiayu

Start the operation in 5 seconds… 3, 2, 1. “As the countdown ended, an agricultural drone slowly took off. In a Majiayou garden in Danan Town, Guangfeng District, Shangrao City, Jiangxi Province, instructor Liu Pei led a fruit grower student to circle the flying plot on the mobile phone app, set the flying speed, flying height and dosage per mu, and began to operate the UAV for plant protection. With the strong airflow of the propeller, tiny water mist is evenly sprayed onto the fruit trees.

This is the third time that Liu Pei was invited to Guangfeng District for UAV training. More than 20 Majiayou growers came to learn the theoretical knowledge and operation practice of UAV. Liu Pei introduced that students usually receive training for 3 to 4 days before they can “graduate”. If you encounter any problems in the future, you can consult at any time.

It is understood that Majiayou industry is the leading agricultural industry in Guangfeng District, with a planting area of more than 190000 mu. At this time, the Ma family pomelo is in the period of expansion, and the Ma family pomelo in Manshan is covered in orange fruit bags. Grasp the fruit lightly with your fingers, feeling heavy.

“In the past, farmers used the traditional way of plant protection, and one person could only work 3 to 5 mu a day, which was difficult to catch up with the agricultural time.” Xu Weifeng, deputy director of the Fruit Industry Management Office of Guangfeng District, introduced that through visiting and learning, Guangfeng District found that the application of UAVs met the needs of modern agriculture, and bought two Jifei agricultural UAVs in May. Nowadays, one person, one machine, and one day can operate from 200 to 300 acres.

In addition to saving time and effort, the two drones also played a significant role in this year’s drought. Zhu Xinrong, the person in charge of Guangfeng District Xinrong Planting and Breeding Specialized Cooperative, calculated a sum of money: “It takes 18000 jin of water to apply pesticides and fertilizers to 460 mu of garden land for manual operations, but today, UAV operations only need 4500 jin of water.” Peng Zhengjun, a technician of Guangzhou Jifei Technology Co., Ltd., said that agricultural UAVs use centrifugal atomization spraying and precise flow control technology to spray more accurately and evenly, thus saving a lot of water.

In order to change the traditional planting concept of fruit farmers, the Majiayou Industry Association of Guangfeng District reduced the price of agricultural UAVs used by local farmers to 10 yuan per mu. At present, two UAVs have operated more than 50000 mu of orchards, benefiting more than 100 farmers. It is understood that the local government also encourages fruit farmers to participate in the New Farmers’ Training Program. By holding training courses on the cultivation techniques of Pomelo, more than 30000 farmers’ technicians and new agricultural operators are trained.

According to statistics, Shangrao’s financial investment in agricultural and rural informatization this year has reached 420 million yuan. 347300 UAVs have been used to carry out pest control, covering an area of 4.167 million mu. The annual subsidy for UAVs to carry out unified control of crop pests and diseases can reach 12.53 million yuan.
