Jiang Yong: Plant Protection Drone Flight Prevention Helps the Healthy Development

On May 30, Jiangyong County held a training meeting on site observation of UAV flight prevention operation for plant protection. At the meeting, more than 90 people attended the training meeting, including agricultural technicians from the township agricultural comprehensive service centers, major citrus growers, professional citrus cooperatives, and principals of citrus bases.

After the meeting, the organization went to the citrus base in Tuanjie Village, Xiaopu Town to conduct a on-site demonstration of the operation of plant protection drone flight prevention operations, which provided citrus growers and cooperative members with a clearer and more intuitive understanding of the methods and dissemination effects of plant protection drone flight prevention operations.

“A plant protection UAV can spray 15 mu of fruit trees in about an hour, and it takes only 4 or 5 minutes on average per mu, which is 16 times more efficient than traditional manual operations.” Zhou Yunwen, senior agronomist of Jiangyong County Agricultural and Rural Bureau, said.

At present, we are in a critical period of fruiting for fruit trees. With the gradual increase of temperature and rainfall, the high temperature and humidity climate can easily lead to the occurrence of major pests and diseases such as red spiders. However, using plant protection drones to carry out pest and disease control operations in orchards not only greatly improves work efficiency, but also makes fruit trees more evenly sprayed with pesticides, greatly improving the prevention and control effect, greatly reducing labor costs and water consumption, It not only improves the utilization rate of pesticides, but also promotes the improvement of quality and efficiency in citrus production.

In recent years, in order to actively respond to the green environmental protection concept advocated by the state and reduce the environmental damage caused by pesticides, Jiangyong County has continued to make efforts to increase the promotion of green pest control technology. Since the introduction of the first plant protection UAV in 2016, it has 66 sets of plant protection UAVs, and is equipped with agricultural Beidou meter (sub meter) operation quality monitoring terminals, with an annual operation area of more than 500000 mu.

In the next step, we will further strengthen the promotion of plant protection UAVs in Pest control of Cash crop such as citrus, constantly improve the level of agricultural science and technology services, and fully guarantee the sustainable and healthy development of Jiangyong’s citrus industry. Cao Guojun, secretary of the Party Leadership Group and director of the Jiangyong County Agricultural and Rural Bureau, expressed confidence.
