Youyang: drone “flight defense” operations add wings to rice field summer management

In the midsummer, more than 260000 mu of rice in Youyang Tujia and Miao Autonomous County entered the tillering and jointing stage, which is also a period of concentrated and frequent occurrence of pests and diseases. All regions vigorously promote the “flying prevention” operation of plant protection drones, laying the foundation for rice production.

The tillering and jointing stage of rice is the period of rapid growth of rice plants, and it is also the best time to control rice leaf roller, rice planthopper, and rice leaf blast. Recently, in Tushi Town, multiple plant protection drones flew over rice fields under the operation of the operator. The airflow under the rotor propelled the mist evenly to disperse and spray on the rice leaves. It is understood that a plant protection drone can operate over 300 acres per day, with an efficiency more than 30 times that of manual operations.

The relevant person in charge of Tushi Town said that in order to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of rice Pest control, the town invited professional technicians from the agricultural technology extension station of the county agricultural and rural committee to check their pulse. According to the needs of the masses, the County Agriculture and Rural Committee has organized a professional team to implement unified prevention and control over the 8000 acre rice planting core area in the town, including the 2000 acre rice direct supply base.

Li Junbao, the head of the Agricultural Technology Promotion Station of the Youyang County Agriculture and Rural Committee, introduced that rice is currently in a period of high incidence of diseases and pests. The station has organized more than 10 plant protection drones to carry out unified prevention and control over the main rice producing townships in the county. Through scientific and efficient field management, it ensures the safe production of rice.

It is understood that this year, the rice planting area of Youyang Tujia and Miao Autonomous County reached more than 260000 mu. During this period, the agricultural department also organized technicians to investigate and monitor in the field irregularly to guide farmers to do a good job in rice field management and comprehensively consolidate the foundation of food security.
