Technological innovation is a key variable in making strides towards becoming an agricultural powerhouse. With the deepening of the new round of technological revolution and industrial transformation, the digital economy is accelerating its integration into various fields of agricultural production, bringing significant opportunities for China’s agricultural modernization. In recent years, China has accelerated technological innovation and promotion in fields such as seed industry and agricultural machinery, continuously empowering the transformation and upgrading of modern agriculture, and laying the foundation for ensuring the stable supply of important agricultural products.
Currently, China’s smart agriculture construction has achieved preliminary results. New technologies such as the Internet of Animals, Big data and cloud platforms have been promoted to integrate with agricultural production in depth, so as to equip modern agriculture with a “digital engine”. In 2022, the contribution rate of national agricultural science and technology progress reached 62.4%, and the national informationization rate of field planting exceeded 21.8%. At present, a total of 9 agricultural IoT demonstration provinces have been established nationwide, and 64 national digital agriculture innovation and application bases have been constructed. The Internet of Things, Big data, artificial intelligence, satellite remote sensing, Beidou navigation and other modern information technologies were accelerated in the production of the Plantation industry, and technologies and equipment such as precision seeding, variable rate fertilization, intelligent irrigation, and plant protection UAVs began to be widely promoted.
