Plant protection UAV “on duty” Science and technology

At present, it is a critical period for field management of crops such as rice and corn. In the low altitude area of Honghe County and over the fields on the hillside, UAV aerial seeding, spraying and fertilization often occur. With the assistance of “high-tech”, farmers gradually bid farewell to the hardships of “steaming the heat and soil with their feet, burning the scorching sky with their backs”, adding new momentum to the high-quality development of agriculture.

In the fields of Daheigong Village Committee in Yisa Town, a plant protection drone took off smoothly and worked back and forth over the tender green rice and corn fields, evenly spraying pesticides on the crops. Villager Wang Hebao told reporters that compared to traditional operations, drones are time-saving, labor-saving, easy to operate, use less materials, and can also reduce the harm of pesticides to farmers. In just one hour, this drone completed the fertilization of 40 acres of rice fields and corn.

In 2023, with the financial assistance of Norinco, Honghe County implemented the Mechanised agriculture production demonstration project, and Daheigong Village Committee of Yisa Town realized the mechanized operation of the whole process of plowing, sowing, fertilization, etc. on more than 40 mu of land.

Zhang Xiang, deputy director of the County Bureau of Agriculture, Rural Affairs and Science and Technology, said, “In this project, we are promoting the mechanized planting of 20 mu of corn and 20 mu of rice. From sowing and fertilization to Pest control, all of them are operated by drones.”
