The “hometown of grapes” welcomes the harvest of fruit farmers at the right time

Entering the Dazhuang Grape Boutique Picking Garden in Yuanzhen, Duji District, Huaibei City, Anhui Province, looking ahead, there are numerous greenhouses connected by ridges and scattered in a picturesque manner; In the greenhouse, on the green leafy grape trellis, clusters of crystal clear, bright and full grapes hang all over the branches and vines, green, red, and purple, like agate or jade, emitting bursts of sweet fruit fragrance.

Zhang Changwen, the person in charge of the picking garden, introduced that the garden covers an area of about 20 acres. A few years ago, based on the renovation of the original old orchard, greenhouse sheltered cultivation was adopted, and more than ten high-quality early, medium, and late maturing varieties were introduced and promoted for planting. Currently, the garden has multiple excellent varieties such as Sapphire, Victoria, Summer Black, Sunshine Rose, and Golden Finger. This year, an average of nearly 3000 catties per acre of land can be harvested, and the expected output value this year is over 400000 yuan.

Duanyuan Town is a famous “hometown of grapes” with a history of over 300 years of grape planting. The town currently has over 20000 acres of grape planting area, over 20 varieties, and an annual grape production of about 60 million pounds, with a production value of over 200 million yuan. Duanyuan Grape has won honors such as “National Geographic Indication Protection Product” and has become a golden business card of Anhui Province. In recent years, Duanyuan Town has combined characteristic agriculture with modern tourism development, building a number of highlights such as grape museums and wine cellars. The prototype of a grape characteristic tourism town has taken shape, and the reputation and influence of Duanyuan grapes are also constantly increasing.

Since 2014, Huaibei has held multiple Duanyuan Grape Picking Festivals, attracting tens of thousands of tourists each time. The 8th Duanyuan Grape Picking Festival will be held from August 18th to 20th this year.
