Summer is scorching, and fruits are sweet and refreshing. Recently, grapes and peaches from Huaiyuan County have been competing for “fresh” listing, with busy scenes of picking, sorting, and packaging everywhere in fields and greenhouses. The abundant fruits not only add fruit fragrance to summer, but also bring income to farmers.
At the fruit planting base in Shuihai Village, Gucheng Town, Huaiyuan County, over 200 acres of grapes and 100 acres of yellow peaches have gradually entered the mature picking season. Entering the grape planting base, rows of planting greenhouses were lined with clusters of grapes with clear colors and plump fruit shapes hanging from the branches. The greenhouses were filled with a sweet and fruity aroma. After several years of planting and screening, the planting base mainly promotes the cultivation of 8 varieties of grapes. In order to ensure the best taste of grapes, the grape yield per acre is controlled at around 4000 kilograms. The yellow peaches that started planting in 2019 have also entered the full fruit period. After strict variety selection, bagging planting, and meticulous management, the mature yellow peaches have a smooth and plump shape, moderate acidity and sweetness, and quickly opened up surrounding markets. The concentrated sweet listing of grapes and yellow peaches has attracted a large number of tourists to come and pick and play.
The varieties of yellow peaches introduced from Shanghai are Jinxiu, Jinyuan, Jinxiang, and Xinfeng Honey Dew. The normal yield of yellow peaches per acre is between 4000 and 4500 kilograms, with about 2000 kilograms of commercial fruits in the 4000 kilograms yield, and the benefits are around 8000 yuan per acre. “Xu Dongjian, the head of the Huaiyuan County Wood Fruit Planting Family Farm, introduced.
There are eight varieties of grapes, and the most popular among tourists are Drunken Golden Fragrance and Giant Rose. The yield per mu is controlled at around 3000 kilograms, with prices ranging from 10 to 18 yuan and benefits ranging from 40000 to 50000 yuan per mu. The main sales method is grape picking, and there is also a fixed customer source in the supermarket, which is in short supply every year. “said Chen Yan, the person in charge of the Shuihai Grape Plantation Base in Huaiyuan County.
Develop characteristic fruit cultivation to drive farmers’ income and land efficiency. After ten years of assistance and construction, the fruit planting base in Shuihai Village has begun to take shape, attracting more than 10 households in the surrounding area to plant grapes and driving the planting area to over 100 acres. The planting, management, and picking of grapes and yellow peaches have attracted over 30 villagers to work nearby, increasing their income. This year, Shuihai Village began to try winter jujube planting, further expanding the area of characteristic fruit planting, developing and strengthening the village’s collective economy, and driving more villagers to seek employment nearby and increase land income and efficiency.
The vineyard in Shuihai Village was built in 2011, covering an area of 300 acres. It was collectively reclaimed by the village and then transferred to large contracting households. Our village’s “One Village, One Product” was mainly developed through the cultivation of cash crops, mainly for grapes from Shuihai. In the later stage, Shuihai Huangtao was also developed. At present, the workers we use are all local farmers, with monthly wages reaching around 2000 to 3000 yuan, increasing the household income of farmers by 20000 to 30000 yuan annually. Transferring land to large farmers through land transfer will increase the income of the collective economy in the village by around 50000 yuan per year Li Lantian, Secretary of the Party Branch and Director of the Village Committee of Shuihai Village, Gucheng Town, Huaiyuan County, introduced.
