At present, during the ripe picking season of tomatoes, Li Hairong, a villager from Yuetang Village, Aksalai Township, Luntai County, walked into his vegetable field. Red tomatoes were hanging all over his branches, and as he watched the boxes of vegetables loaded onto trucks and transported to the vegetable wholesale market in Luntai County, Li Hairong looked proud.
How can we take the income of villagers to another level? Through research, the village “two committees” have decided to focus on improving the quality and efficiency of the vegetable industry as a breakthrough point for consolidating and expanding the achievements of poverty alleviation and effectively connecting with rural revitalization.
If you want tomatoes to continuously produce high yields, you must ensure the growth of the plants. The more leaves, the better. “Experts from the Luntai County Agricultural Technology Promotion Center have visited the vegetable planting base in Yuetang Village multiple times to guide villagers on vegetable planting techniques.
I planted 5 acres of tomatoes this year, and with the help of the village’s “two committees”, I tried to plant them in April, which was about 20 days earlier than in other regions, in order to seize the market and sell them at a good price. Nowadays, it is basically picked every other day, with a capacity of 300 to 500 kilograms per acre. The production capacity per acre is about 5 tons, and 50000 yuan per acre of land is no problem Li Hairong said.
In response to the lack of planting technology among villagers, the village “two committees” invited county agricultural technology experts to adopt a “centralized training+on-site guidance” approach. They regularly conducted practical planting technology training on variety selection, daily management, disease and pest control through night schools for farmers and herdsmen, and provided technical guidance face-to-face from households to greenhouses, further helping villagers master the key points of planting management technology for various vegetables and consolidating the training results.
The village “two committees” guide growers to sign agricultural product purchase and sales contracts with wholesale markets and supermarkets, and expand sales channels. Villagers who have no worries behind them have increasing confidence in developing vegetable cultivation. The industrial chain from seedling cultivation to harvesting and sales has initially formed, and the vegetable industry is developing towards standardization and scale.
