Jiangxi Gao’an: Technology Assists Green and Safe Production of Vegetables

Recently, experts from the Nanchang Comprehensive Experimental Station and System Disease and Pest Prevention and Control Research Laboratory of the National Bulk Vegetable Industry Technology System visited Gao’an City, Jiangxi Province to investigate the occurrence of diseases and pests and provide on-site guidance on green prevention and control measures.

At the Selenium Rich Chili Pepper Industrial Park in Shanghu Township, experts conducted on-site inspections on the emergence of autumn chili peppers and the occurrence of pests. They proposed comprehensive agricultural prevention and control suggestions for pests and diseases, such as clearing weeds around the greenhouse and using the current high temperature and favorable light and heat conditions to disinfect the soil inside the greenhouse. The experts also had a detailed understanding of the planting scale and production varieties of autumn pepper, discussed the demonstration plan of green comprehensive prevention and control technology for pepper diseases and pests, and arranged for the demonstration of cultivating pepper pest free seedlings technology and the preliminary treatment of production demonstration greenhouses.

Braving the scorching heat, experts also went deep into the production areas of cowpeas, chili peppers, and bitter melons in Ruizhou Street, Shinao Town, Shanghu Township, and Longtan Town to investigate the occurrence of diseases and pests, guide the identification of important pests and green prevention and control technologies, and propose ecological regulation and pest control technology models such as on-site relocation assistance, protection of natural enemies, cultivation of functional plants, and construction of natural enemy shelters for severely occurring thrips and aphids in the local area.

Since the beginning of this year, Gao’an City has taken the opportunity of the “three comparisons and three competitions” activity to invite experts and scholars to the fields for on-site guidance and technical demonstrations, fully promoting the green ecological development of vegetables in the city.
