Liping County: Drones escort rice fields

At present, 13000 mu of rice in Zhaoxing Town, Liping County has entered a critical period of management and protection. According to the investigation by the town’s Agricultural Comprehensive Service Center, it has been found that there are diseases and pests such as rice planthoppers, rice leaf roller, and rice blast in the local rice. If not prevented and controlled in a timely manner, it will spread and affect rice yield.

To this end, the town’s agricultural comprehensive service center has established a rice disease and pest prevention and control working group, dividing it into districts to carry out guidance work on rice disease and pest prevention and control. By collaborating with the county’s agricultural and rural bureau in rice contiguous planting areas such as Pilin Village, large farmers and industrial cooperatives are guided to use plant protection drones, intensify disease and pest prevention and fertilization of rice, carry out drone unified prevention and control, and provide guarantees for increasing grain production and income.

It is understood that the use of imidacloprid, metformin and tebuconazole in this flight control operation can effectively control pests such as rice planthopper, rice leaf roller, and rice blast. Compared with the traditional manual knapsack spray, the UAV has good atomization, high utilization rate, effective reduction of pesticide residues, no re spraying and missed spraying, can reduce pesticides by 30% -50%, and it only takes about 2 minutes to spray one mu of land. As of now, more than 2000 acres have been sprayed using drones.

One UAV can carry 30L of liquid medicine at a time, with a working area of 500 mu a day, and the efficiency is about 100 times that of manual application, which has been widely praised by the masses. In addition, the UAV application of medicine is more uniform, which can save more than 90% of liquid medicine compared with manual application, and has played a positive role in ecological protection.” The staff of the Agricultural Comprehensive Service Center in Zhaoxing Town introduced that the use of aerial plant protection drones can not only effectively reduce the labor intensity of grain farmers, but also reduce production costs and increase farmers’ enthusiasm for grain cultivation.
