Developing ecological circular agriculture to make vegetables greener and healthier

For many years, Zhibin Family Farm in Yiqi Town, Tunxi District has adhered to the concept of green and low-carbon development, taking the development of green circular ecological agriculture as a breakthrough point, exploring the establishment of a full process green prevention and control demonstration zone, continuously improving the quality of agricultural products, and gradually walking out a sustainable agricultural development path that integrates economic benefits and ecological protection.

Entering the Zhibin family farm, the newly planted chili peppers are growing well. Farm workers are renovating the ridges and installing drip irrigation belts, laying the foundation for a new round of planting. It is understood that the farm has a vegetable base of 230 mu, mainly planting pepper, cauliflower and other crops. It is the largest pepper production and wholesale base in Mount Huangshan City.

As a demonstration base for new vegetable varieties and technologies in Tunxi District, the farm has established a comprehensive green prevention and control demonstration zone through technical measures such as “ecological regulation+light trapping+biological control+chemical control”. Vegetable production is strictly carried out in accordance with the operating procedures for pollution-free vegetable technology, and green prevention and control technologies such as yellow boards, pest control lamps, silver reflective film, and high-temperature greenhouse are applied, greatly reducing the use of pesticides. At present, the cultivation level of chili peppers on the farm has increased from two crops a year to over 120 days of live preservation in the field, further increasing the economic benefits of agricultural products.

The farm has installed sprinkler and drip irrigation facilities, using organic fertilizer for all fertilizers and natural water for irrigation to ensure the quality of our vegetables and food safety, “said Chen Zhibin, the head of Zhibin Family Farm in Yiqi Town, Tunxi District.

Carrying out the construction of ecological farms is an important measure to accelerate the green transformation of agriculture, promote rural ecological revitalization, and reduce emissions and carbon sequestration in agriculture and rural areas. Through high-temperature greenhouse and water source control, we have saved 5% in costs. It is expected that the output value this year will increase by 10-15% compared to previous years. The head of Zhibin Family Farm said that in the future, we will further standardize the production process, keep good records of production management, actively apply ecological agricultural technology, regularly monitor the farm environment, focus on building green and high-quality agricultural product brands, and take the lead in creating a good and honest business environment.
