The mechanization of rice fields plays the melody of grain harvest

The autumn wind rises, and the fragrance of rice wafts. Autumn crops across the country have gradually entered the harvest season, and farmers from all over the country are carrying out mechanized harvesting in rice fields, focusing on harvesting, drying, storing autumn crops such as rice and corn, presenting a scene of busy and abundant harvests everywhere.
Nearly 170000 acres of rice planted in Yanhe County, Guizhou Province have seen a bumper harvest. The fields are filled with golden rice, and farmers drive harvesters to shuttle back and forth between the fields. In a short period of time, the harvesting, threshing, and crushing processes of rice straw are completed in one go. Watching the high efficiency brought by mechanized harvesting, the joy of the masses is beyond expression. It is understood that currently, the county has invested over 40 large and medium-sized combine harvesters, and it is expected that the rice harvest in the county will be completed in mid October.

This year, the autumn grain harvest in Guiyang city is also generally abundant. In the modern agricultural demonstration field of Longbao Village, Gaofeng Town, Guiyang New Area, the average yield of rice per mu reached 652.11 kilograms, with an increase of 19.53% and a maximum yield of 939.4 kilograms per mu, creating a new record for high yield of high-quality rice varieties in Guizhou. In order to vigorously promote the technology of grain crop machine harvesting and loss reduction, Longbao Dam in Gaofeng Town recently held the Guiyang Gui’an 2023 grain crop (rice) machine harvesting and loss reduction competition, further improving the quality of machine harvesting operations and the level of machine operator skills.

In recent years, Guizhou has promoted the “six major projects” for food security and the “five major actions” for rural revitalization, comprehensively creating livable, suitable for work, and beautiful rural areas, and building a modern and efficient agricultural province with mountainous characteristics. In the first half of the year, the total output value of agriculture, forestry, animal husbandry, and fishery in the province was 195.24 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 3.3%. It is expected that the annual grain planting area will be about 41.7 million mu, and the output will be about 11.2 million tons, which is expected to exceed the national tasks assigned.
