Technology empowers Jianyang’s first unmanned farm with busy rice harvesting

What kind of experience is it to harvest rice without seeing people but machines? Recently, in the Jianyang Unmanned Farm Demonstration Zone, with the support of technology, 300 acres of rice can be easily “managed” through mobile software.

At the rice harvesting site in Gaopo Village, Pingwu Town, agricultural technicians only lightly clicked on their mobile screens, and the harvester began precise operations in the farmland. With the rumbling sound, the harvester automatically turned, backed up, harvested… a series of actions were completed in one go, and the entire process was unmanned.

Our unmanned harvester is equipped with a system with independent intellectual property rights that combines Beidou high-precision positioning and 5G technology. It can be planned through our APP to achieve fully unmanned operation.

The application of unmanned harvesters can not only improve production efficiency, but also effectively reduce labor costs. They are intelligent agricultural equipment supporting Jianyang Unmanned Farm. In order to build a higher level “Tianfu granary” in the new era and explore effective ways to achieve agricultural modernization in the hilly area, in July of this year, our city launched the construction of an unmanned farm demonstration project in the hilly area of Tuodong Ecological Farm.

Because over 90% of the Jianyang landform is shallow hilly terrain, we want to explore a model suitable for fully unmanned and mechanized farming in shallow hills, mainly to solve the difficulty of unmanned farming and the difficulty of large machinery climbing mountains.

The project includes two demonstration areas, Gaopo Village in Pingwu Town and Lianshan Village in Hefeng Town, with a total area of approximately 860 acres. It is planted with crops such as rice, rapeseed, corn, and soybeans. The project relies on a smart agricultural management platform and automation equipment, utilizing new generation information technologies such as the Internet of Things, big data, artificial intelligence, and 5G to achieve unmanned operation of agricultural machinery, refined and precise management of agricultural production, effectively improving the quality and efficiency of agricultural production in Jianyang, and striving to create a demonstration model for unmanned farm areas in the province. This year, the 300 acres of rice on unmanned farms have achieved a process of reduced and unmanned production, from land preparation, seedling transplanting, management, and harvesting.

From “skilled farming” to “intelligent farming”, our city is empowering high-quality agricultural development through technology, injecting strong impetus into rural revitalization. In the future, our city will continue to make efforts to actively explore new modern agricultural production methods in hilly areas, and effectively create a batch of replicable and promotable “unmanned farms” demonstration models that integrate mechanization, informatization, and intelligence.
