Unmanned harvesters launched new models to assist in the autumn harvest season in Jiading

Another harvest season has arrived. This year, the city’s first digital unmanned farm located in Waigang Town completed the “unmanned” transformation of three harvesters, further improving operational efficiency and assisting in the autumn harvest in Jiading.

Accompanied by the roaring sound and guided by the “Beidou” satellite positioning system, the unmanned harvester automatically turns, reverses, and harvests according to the previously set route… a series of actions are completed in one go, and rows of golden rice are taken into the “bag” by the unmanned harvester.

This year, the Agricultural Machinery Technology Promotion Station in Jiading District, in collaboration with Shanghai Lianshi Navigation Technology Co., Ltd. and the manufacturer of Kubota, completed the unmanned transformation of three harvesters of the same model by retrofitting the Kubota 888 harvester, adding electronic control and navigation equipment. Workers only need to use a mobile phone to achieve unmanned mechanical harvesting.

Gong Zhifeng, Deputy Director of the Agricultural Machinery Technology Promotion Station in Jiading District, introduced that the Kubota 888 model can harvest 4-8 acres per hour. With reduced labor, the unmanned harvester can also maintain the same harvesting efficiency. The advantages of unmanned harvesters are not only reflected in efficiency, but also in their ability to work 24 hours a day without interruption. Taking 1000 acres of land as an example, it can save about 560 traditional labor times and complete harvesting in 3-5 days.

The operation is simple, the driving path is straight, and the trajectory deviation is small… This is the evaluation of the unmanned harvester by Sun Jiayun, the person in charge of agricultural machinery at Waigang Agricultural Machinery Station. Sun Jiayun stated that using the existing Kubota 888 model from the cooperative to complete the transformation not only reduces purchasing costs but also improves fuel economy, “which can save about 10% of fuel consumption.

This year, the rice planting area in the entire region is nearly 75000 acres, and over 100 Kubota 888 rice harvesters are the true “main force”. In the future, we are prepared to continue to improve our technology by implementing automatic grain unloading and collaborative operations with multiple models. This way, the less manual intervention we have, the higher the unmanned rate, and the higher the efficiency of operations, “said Gong Zhifeng.

This year, Jiading plans to complete relevant agricultural experiments on a 1600 acre unmanned farm and strives to achieve 85% unmanned operation throughout the production process. The unmanned transformation of the Kubota 888 model will lay the foundation for Jiading to achieve the goal of building an unmanned farm of 8000 to 10000 acres during the 14th Five Year Plan period.
