Wisdom Farm Harvest

On August 15th, at the Hongshuo Biological Regenerated Rice Demonstration Zone in Qianshanhong Town, Datonghu District, Yiyang City, an unmanned harvester traveled along a predetermined trajectory. The harvested rice is then transported to a location for expert yield testing. During the on-site observation and seminar of the “Capacity Improvement and High Quality and Efficient Technology Research and Integration Demonstration of Regenerated Rice in the Yangtze River Basin” project, Wu Wenge, the expert group leader and rice researcher at the Anhui Academy of Agricultural Sciences, excitedly announced that the highest per mu yield of the first season of regenerated rice was 830.7 kilograms, with an average per mu yield of 788.2 kilograms. The world’s first unmanned (young) smart farm for regenerated rice has achieved a bumper harvest.

Regenerated rice refers to the cultivation of rice that is harvested twice in one crop, that is, after the first season of rice is harvested, the rice piles are used to regenerate seedlings and grow spikes, and then the rice is harvested in one season with a certain yield. Planting regenerated rice, which saves planting and labor, and reduces weight loss and medication, is suitable for promotion in areas where there is more than one season of temperature and light resources but less than two seasons.

In November 2022, as a key national research and development plan for the 14th Five Year Plan, the Yangtze River Basin’s demonstration project for enhancing the production capacity of regenerated rice and developing high-quality and efficient technologies was officially launched. This project is led by Huazhong Agricultural University, with the participation of 10 units from 5 provinces and cities, including Chongqing Academy of Agricultural Sciences and the Grain Crop Research Institute of Hubei Academy of Agricultural Sciences. The aim is to enhance the production capacity of recycled rice in the Yangtze River Basin and promote the industrialization of recycled rice. Datonghu District seized the opportunity of the project, and Hunan Hongshuo Biotechnology Co., Ltd., in collaboration with the team of academicians Luo Xiwen from South China Agricultural University, Professor Peng Shaobing from Central China Agricultural University, and Professor Tang Qiyuan from Hunan Agricultural University, jointly built the first global unmanned (young) intelligent farm for regenerated rice, becoming the first agricultural project in Yiyang City to participate in and preside over a national key research and development plan.

The company integrates “agricultural machinery+agronomy+intelligence” and utilizes the Zhonglian Smart Agriculture Platform to create a localized smart agriculture brain and digital agriculture display model. This platform can automatically collect rice growth data, achieve precise fertilization, watering, and pesticide application, and also determine whether seedling replacement is necessary after machine insertion, greatly reducing field management costs and losses. The company also focuses on technologies such as unmanned agricultural machinery operation to reduce first season rolling, mechanized weeding and pesticide reduction, and unmanned aerial vehicle variable fertilization to increase weight loss and efficiency. This enables the full process data collection and analysis of rice production, intelligent decision-making of agricultural instructions, intelligent execution of agricultural machinery operations, and comprehensive traceability coverage of rice cultivation, planting, management, harvesting, production, supply, and sales, which effectively promotes the high yield of regenerated rice.
