On August 31st, over the lush green rice fields, six plant protection drones were conducting flight defense operations, with “pesticide mist” falling from the sky and evenly spreading over the rice fields. In less than 80 minutes, the pest control work on 530 acres of rice fields was completed. This is a microcosm of the field management of the “unmanned farm” demonstration base for rice wheat rotation in Kangzhuang Village, Dayou Town, Xiangshui County, Yancheng City, Jiangsu Province.
The drone used in this operation is equipped with four rotating nozzles and sprays 360 degrees in all directions. Nowadays, in the ‘Unmanned Farm’ demonstration base, various unmanned agricultural machines are used for farming, sowing, field management, harvesting and other operations, with a strong sense of technology.
Qin Congyuan, a local agricultural mechanic in his 40s, witnessed the transformation of rice cultivation methods, from “steering wheel” to “keyboard”, and from “manned” to “unmanned”. At first, the level of mechanization in farming was not high, so it was very tiring, “he said.” Later, after the large-scale land transfer, new machines also came in. With the use of unmanned agricultural machinery, doing agricultural work became easier.
In the past two years, Xiangshui County has taken the lead in promoting the establishment of a provincial-level comprehensive mechanization demonstration county for agriculture, creating 2 provincial-level unmanned farms, 3 demonstration bases approved as the first batch of vegetable production mechanization demonstration bases in Jiangsu Province, 15 bases approved as the first batch of characteristic agricultural machinery demonstration bases in Yancheng City, and Xiangshui Xilan mechanization production mode has been selected as a typical case by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs.
